Rhinoplasty

What is Rhinoplasty (nose job)?

Rhinoplasty or in commonly knwon as “nose job” is a surgical operation aimed at reshaping the nose so that it looks better and works better, or both. The main merit of this surgery is the correction of nasal asymmetry, dorsal hump, or bulbous tip into a more refined and balanced nose that offers a better look with the face. He tailors every rhinoplasty to the individual anatomy of the patient to make sure that the result is natural-looking, in proportion with general facial aesthetics.

Who is the Perfect Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

The perfect candidate for rhinoplasty should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results that will be achieved with the procedure. Common candidates usually want rhinoplasty for varied different reasons such as beautification, correcting one’s breathing problem, or repairing traumatic injuries. Most of the patients should be more than 18 years old since most have reached full nasal development; though medically speaking, there is some consideration for younger patients. Dr. Çakıl is putting every candidate expectation into the real and achievable result; however, the approach has to be fitted for the best to each facial feature and life style.

Rhinoplasty Surgical Procedure

The two major techniques of performing rhinoplasty are referred to as open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. In open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made on the columella  so that the whole nasal structure is accessible to the surgeon. In closed rhinoplasty, all of the incisions are made inside the nostrils, thus leaving no external scars.

Dr. Tolga Çakıl plans the most appropriate method for each patient in harmony with the anatomy of the patient and his/her desire. During the operation, he delicately reshapes the bony structure, cartilage, and soft tissues of the nose to provide an appearance the patient requested without any loss in the functions of the nose or with improvement. The operation generally takes 2-3 hours, based on the complexity of the case, after which follow-up of the patients is provided through a personalized post-operative recovery process.

Rhinoplasty (nose job) Recovery Process

The Rhinoplasty recovery is patiently and duly followed according to the post-operative care instructions. Most of the patients experience mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first week of surgery that subsides with rest and medication. A splint is generally placed on the nose for extra protection and stability and is removed within a week. By the second week, most patients are back into light activities. However, strenuous activities should be avoided for at least a month. Full results become apparent over several months when swelling gradually clears and the refined shape of the nose is apparent.

Longevity & Benefits of Rhinoplasty

The results of rhinoplasty can last for many years, since the reshaped form and contours of the nose remain over time. Patients end up with an aesthetically pleasing nose that fits well with their individual facial profile and often have gained an increased level of self-assurance. General benefits of rhinoplasty include:

  1. Improvement in facial symmetry:A proportionate nose may balance out the whole face.
  2. Better breathing:Functional rhinoplasty might improve nasal airflow by correcting structural abnormalities.

Customizable results: Dr. Çakıl customizes each rhinoplasty according to the facial anatomy of the patient to create a natural look.

Permanent improvement: The result of rhinoplasty can be permanent, provided it is taken care of properly.

This rhinoplasty can thus be one of the effective methods to achieve a natural and balanced enhancement of the face while improving nasal function.
